What are your plans for expanding your coverage?

We are currently preparing the rapid expansion of LTE technology. We will focus primarily on rural coverage, i.e. smaller towns and villages that are currently only covered by the 2G network. At the same time, we are planning to provide comprehensive LTE coverage for Prague.

In addition, we are also expanding 2G and 3G network coverage, especially in new residential areas and commercial and business centres.

Do the coverage maps correspond to reality?

Due to the nature of radio wave propagation and the constant changes taking place in this field, coverage maps are only an approximation. Signal quality is affected by many factors such as the density of buildings (a signal is dispersed better in an open area) and the landscape as well as, e.g. window materials, wall thickness and the type of hardware. T-Mobile is constantly working hard on updating and refining its coverage maps in order to provide the most faithful overview possible.

What constitutes superfast Internet?

Superfast Internet is a combination of HSPA+42 and LTE. The reasons for combining the two include the resulting amazing Internet connection speeds, new mobile and data devices capable of supporting both technologies and a similar user experience. Users may choose between HSPA+42 and LTE in the "Network Type" settings.

Are the speeds you indicate really achievable?

The speeds indicated for individual layers are the theoretical maximums achievable by these technologies. Although low transceiver load realistically means that approximately 90% of the theoretical maximum is available, speeds achievable in real-life settings are around 50%. The primary criterion is the current transceiver load.

What is the difference between EDGE, 3G(HSPA+), HSPA+42 and LTE?

The primary difference between these technologies is the achievable Internet connection speed:

  • EDGE is available anywhere with a GSM signal reception, i.e. 99.98% of the population is receiving coverage with a speed of up to 236 Kbit/s.
  • 3G with HSPA+ technology is ideal for very fast data transfers with speeds of up to 21.6 Mbit/s; this connection is currently available to 85% of the population.
  • 3G with HSPA+42 technology is capable of transfer speeds of up to 42 Mbit/s and is currently available in 20 cities, including all regional cities in the Czech Republic.
  • LTE – superfast Internet with a maximum speed of up to 150 Mbit/s.

HSPA+42 and LTE technology requires a recent mobile phone or a data device model.

What is HD Voice?

HD Voice is the latest technology for achieving the cleanest possible audio and best overall call quality. If you are a technical type, the following information is just for you.

HD Voice utilizes the WB-AMR codec which – thanks to a wider frequency band – makes voices more natural sounding and intelligible while also suppressing undesirable external noise. A necessary precondition for using the codec is that both parties have mobile phones that support HD Voice.

Improved audio quality is, therefore, now available to T-Mobile customers throughout the entire 3G network. HD Voice is free for all active T-Mobile SIM card owners as well as for customers using shared networks operated by Telefónica. Clearer calls within the 3G network are, therefore, currently available to a full 85% of the population of the Czech Republic.

Is there a way to report a problem with the connection quality?

Yes, there is. The ideal way is to make use of the NetworkRadar application, which allows you to test the quality of your mobile Internet connection as well as providing you with an opportunity to influence future coverage and network improvements. The application is available for devices running iOS (Apple) and smart devices running Android. It can be downloaded free of charge from the AppStore and Google Play (formerly Android Market).
